Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group has secured a US$135 million contract with Albemarle for work on expansion of the Kemerton lithium hydroxide plant in Western Australia.
New York Stock Exchange-listed Albemarle said in May this year it was adding two processing trains to double Kemerton lithium hydroxide output to 100,000 tonnes per annum from 2026.
Monadelphous said its A$200 million contract covered front-end pyromet structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works on the 3 and 4 processing trains.
“The award follows the successful delivery of construction packages on trains 1 and 2, and the recently awarded long-term maintenance and sustaining capital projects contracts at Albemarle’s Kemerton operations,” it said.
