Austin Engineering says its first high-tech Mainetec mine-shovel dipper bucket will be delivered in Australia this month after it finished making the tool under a partnership with US-based Bierwith Forge.
Austin says it has two further orders for large shovel buckets fitted with Bierwith’s Slick Lip system, with the ground-engaging tool (GET) technology added at Mainetec’s Mackay plant in Queensland.
The Australian dump-truck tray and loading-unit bucket manufacturer says the Bierwith GET tech, which can be customised for Austin’s entire bucket range under the partnership deal, can help deliver extended bucket life and enhanced payloads.
Austin bought Mainetec in 2022 and has since extended its bucket offering to bucket builds, rebuilds and related services.
“The successful integration of Bierwith Forge’s technology into our product range demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovation and customer-focused solutions,” Austin CEO Sy van Dyk said.
“We are particularly pleased to provide this quality GET technology on our electric rope shovel and excavator bucket range for our customers. This partnership enhances our ability to deliver superior products that meet the evolving needs of our customers and the mining industry.”
