BHP has contracted Sedgman and CPB Contractors to build a 30 million tonnes per annum iron ore crusher station and material handling system at Western Ridge near Newman in Western Australia, with construction to start at the end of this month.
Sedgman and CPB, both part of CIMIC, have worked with BHP over the past 12 months to progress engineering, design and long-lead procurement for the project, which includes a 12km overland conveyor, radial stacker and associated stockpiling systems.
The 30Mtpa primary crusher has been separately procured by BHP.
CIMIC said the project would generate group revenue of A$757 million.
The facility is expected to be production ready in the first quarter of FY2027.
