CIMIC unit adds Mt Keith debottlenecking work

CIMIC business CPB Contractors has won a A$105 million contract to work on BHP’s Mt Keith nickel operation debottlenecking project in Western Australia, which is due to be completed next year.

CPB is delivering the structural mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation work package for the project.

BHP Nickel West awarded the debottlenecking project engineering and design contract to ASX-listed DRA Engineering in mid-2021. The project scope includes expansion of the crushing and grinding circuit at Mt Keith, near Leinster, including new stockpile feed conveyors, coarse ore stockpile, a reclaim conveyor, 16MW SAG mill grinding circuit and an 11kV substation.

The additional grinding capacity is to meet requirements of different Mt Keith ore types.
