Hexagon sees mining’s digital highway opening up

One of the biggest investors in the mining digital and mobile autonomy M&A space over the past decade or so is only “scratching the surface” vis-à-vis the opportunities emerging from the integration of advanced analytics and autonomy, the 2023 Austmine Mining Innovation Roadshow in Perth heard.

Rob Daw, Hexagon Mining chief technology officer, said the company’s breakthrough commercial deal with Australian miner Mineral Resources (MinRes) to automate road trains as part of its A$3 billion Onslow iron ore project in Western Australia’s Ashburton region would do more than unlock stranded mineral wealth.
