‘Blast Dog stands alone at this stage’

Orica chief technology officer Angus Melbourne said last month blasting was the best starting point for an assault on mining’s burgeoning orebody intelligence technology market. Imdex CEO Paul House is going to politely disagree.

Drilling consumables and technology company Imdex is shaping to square off with the bigger Orica, global leader in mine explosives supply, after the latter announced a US$240 million acquisition of Australian geospatial technology firm, Axis Mining Technology, at the start of August. Orica wants to augment its mining digital offering with Axis’ surveying tools.
