ASX-listed battery recycler and lithium processing company Livium has formalised an equal joint venture with Mineral Resources to commercialise its patented LieNA technology.
The 50-50 joint venture, called LieNA, will license the technology to other parties, aiming for an 8% gross product royalty rate, and could also build a demonstration plant funded and operated by MinRes.
MinRes is a Western Australia lithium and iron ore producer with a large mining services arm which has a current ASX market value around A$7.5 billion. “We firmly believe the technology has a role to play in the future of lithium processing and are focused on working together to convert the strong technical delivery achieved to date into commercial outcomes,” the company said in a statement.
Livium-owned Envirostream generated about $6.7 million of revenue in FY2024 on “strong lithium-ion battery collections growth”. Earlier this year the company secured a $30 million Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) grant to help fund a 250-tonne per annum lithium ferro phosphate demonstration plant.
CEO Simon Linge said Livium was committed to working with MinRes to unlock the commercial potential of LieNA technology. “We are incredibly pleased to formalise our joint venture position with MinRes following successful completion of targets we set together two years ago,” he said.
