Finland’s Metso Outotec has won an order from Artemis Gold to supply its US$510 million Blackwater gold project in British Columbia, Canada, with key crushing and grinding equipment.

Metso says the order value is confidential but Artemis is a public company that must publish detailed feasibility studies to convince investors of the economic merits of its proposed projects. Metso, of course, also has investors who would want to know it is not giving equipment away.

Artemis’ 2021 updated feasibility study gives a breakdown of the initial project capital expenditure for Blackwater and its six million tonnes per annum plant. The company aims to be producing gold at Blackwater in the first half of 2024.

Metso Outotec North and Central America president Giuseppe Campanelli said the manufacturer was supplying “state-of-the-art” primary gyratory crusher, secondary and tertiary cone crushers, and a 14MW ball mill to Blackwater.
