Imdex’s strategic Devico and Krux Analytics acquisitions are expected to accelerate global growth in the company’s increasingly dominant rock-knowledge technology arm. Charles Macfadyen thinks they will also speed regeneration of Imdex’s oldest business.
AMC, formed in 1988 and mostly known for drilling muds, or fluids, underpins Imdex’s remodelled drilling optimisation division and about 40% of its revenues.
Macfadyen has headed the business since returning to Perth, Western Australia, from Sweden about 2.5 years ago. By the time he left Stockholm and mining and construction equipment manufacturer Sandvik, the Swedish company was in the process of laying an impressive digital technology stack over its traditional equipment and metal-cutting and drill steel units.
As head of digital solutions, Macfadyen was in charge of building a digital network to complement the manufacturer’s rock tools business.
