Thiess underground hard-rock mining business Pybar has won a three-year contract to provide mine development and rehabilitation services at MMG’s Rosebery zinc mine in Tasmania, augmenting an existing shotcreting and cemented rockfill delivery agreement.
Hong Kong-listed MMG expects Rosebery to produce up to 55,000 tonnes of zinc in 2025, plus gold, silver and copper (up to 125,000t zinc-equivalent). C1 costs are projected at US10c-15c a pound.
Q3 2025 production was reported as 10,615t of zinc in zinc concentrate and 27,397t tonnes zinc-equivalent.
Thiess did not disclose the value of the new contract.
“Our team is mobilising to site to commence work on this additional new scope,” said Pybar general manager James Glover.
