ASX-listed engineering services company Monadelphous Group has bagged mine ancillary contracts worth about A$100 million in Mongolia and Australia.
The company is installing two conveyors and an electrical substation for the Oyu Tolgoi underground copper-gold project in Mongolia’s South Gobi region. It is also connecting new and existing facilities.
Operator Rio Tinto’s US$7.06 billion development of the Hugo North underground project at Oyu Tolgoi is expected to increase annual copper output from the site to 500,000 tonnes per annum from 2028.
Monadelphous has also been awarded a contract with Talison Lithium Australia to provide structural, mechanical, piping and electrical and instrumentation services at the Greenbushes lithium mine in Western Australia. The work is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2023.
In WA’s north, Monadelphous fabrication unit SinoStruct will supply more than 2000t of structural steel for a construction project in Ashburton in the Pilbara region, while the contractor has also won a contract with Rio Tinto to upgrade conveyor facilities at the Marandoo iron ore mine in the region.
Marandoo site works are scheduled to start early next year and should be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
