Space the new frontier for ESG reporting: EY

Miners can ‘embed space tech into ESG reporting from the get-go’

Anthony Jones, EY’s space technology leader, is on a mission to educate the resources industry about how satellites and other technologies can help corporations streamline approaches to increasingly onerous environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting.

Jones says better availability and accessibility of earth observation (EO) data has made it a cheaper source of high-value information over the past five years.

The potential [of EO data] comes from the quality of the data and what you can tell from the data and then the combination with … cloud, machine learning, AI etc [technology],” Jones told InvestMETS on the back of an EY-organised webcast, The Future of ESG and Space.
