WA gold mine orders new diesel underground trucks

Gold Fields’ Granny Smith gold mine in Western Australia has ordered circa-A$18 million worth of new 65-tonne-payload diesel underground haul trucks, which manufacturer Epiroc says it will start delivering early next year.

Sweden-based Epiroc said it was also suppling production drills and consumables to Granny Smith.

It said the MT65 haulers would have “automation features”: Epiroc’s Certiq telematics system said to enable intelligent monitoring of machine performance and productivity, and its Rig Control System (RCS), “which makes them ready for automation and remote control”.
