Epiroc says its new Orebro “state-of-the-art global logistics hub”, expected to be operational in 2027, will improve supply logistics efficiency in its US$4.2 billion aftermarket business.

Construction of the distribution centre is underway. It will replace several smaller facilities in Orebro, a city about 200km west of Stockholm in Sweden.

Epiroc says the centre will be its global hub for aftermarket products, “benefiting customers by enabling a more efficient supply of goods”. Aftermarket accounted for 66% of Epiroc’s $6.3 billion 2024 revenues. Products to flow through the 29,000-square-metre distribution facility will include spare parts for Epiroc’s drill rigs, loaders and mine trucks.

“The new distribution centre that we start building now is a key step in our journey to optimize our supply chain, which benefits customers and supports Epiroc’s profitable growth,” CEO Helena Hedblom said.

The company says its significant growth and increased reported product demand caused its distribution organisation in Orebro to be spread out over several smaller facilities in recent years. “Gathering the aftermarket distribution in one major facility while using advanced automation and smart logistics will create more efficient logistics flows, improved safety and work environment, and reduced environmental impact,” it said.

Epiroc employs about 3000 people in Orebro out of its total global workforce of some 19,000.
