Mexico silver and gold explorer Zacatecas Silver Corp has contracted Major Drilling International for a diamond drilling program at Zacatecas on the Fresnillo silver belt.
The junior is looking for extensions to an existing resource of about 15 million ounces of silver and 15,000oz of gold at Zacatecas, starting with 4000m of angled diamond drilling. It needs to get new drill permits from Mexico’s environment ministry, SEMARNAT, and says it is “following the same process used successfully in previous campaigns”.
Zacatecas Silver said it had already entered into a new community access agreement with the local Ejido Panuco community group.
“The new agreement, approved unanimously by the Ejido, underscores strong and continued local support for Zacatecas Silver’s exploration initiatives,” it said.
“Major Drilling … has indicated it can mobilise upon receipt of permits.”
Zacatecas Silver has the Zacatecas silver and Esperanza gold projects in Mexico.
Major Drilling, one of the world’s largest mineral drilling contractors, has been operating in Mexico for more than 30 years.
