Zambian copper producer Mopani Copper Mines has ordered diesel underground mining equipment worth about US$20 million from Epiroc. The trucks and loaders for the Nkana and Mufulira mines are expected to be delivered by the end of 2026.

Mopani, 51% owned by UAE-based Delta Mining and 49% by Lusaka-listed ZCCM Investment Holdings, sold about US$630 million of copper and cobalt in 2025.

Delta Mining parent International Resources Holding RSC outlined a circa-$400 million investment in Mopani to grow production when it paid $620 million for its equity stake in 2024. The company said it wanted to transform Mopani into “the most productive copper mine in the Copperbelt”.

“By applying advanced and innovative new technologies and collaborating with the outstanding Zambian workforce, IRH is decarbonising the project whilst aspiring to increase copper output to 200,000 tonnes over the course of the next three years,” IRH said.
