Australian mining software company CorePlan will step up its expansion efforts in the Americas and Africa on the back of key leadership appointments in both regions.
It has made former Energold regional manager Christian Maudet regional lead for the Americas and drilling engineer Chipego Kasimbo regional lead for Africa. Kasimbo Chipego has worked with drilling contractors and also as a drilling superintendent at Rio Tinto.
As well as his time at drilling contractor Energold, Maudet worked for Micromine, a mining software firm headquartered in Australia.
“Bringing Christian and Chipego on board is a testament to our commitment to these markets,” CorePlan CEO and founder, Alex Goulios, said.
“Their leadership, coupled with their deep regional expertise, will be instrumental in driving adoption of CorePlan’s integrated drilling management platform and transforming how drilling programs are managed.”
Mitchell International, Drill Masters, Sandfire Resources, AngloGold Ashanti, Kobold Metals, South32 and Trust Drilling are said to be among mining and drilling companies already using CorePlan’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology in the targeted growth regions.
The company says it will establish new offices and hire local talent to better serve customers the regions.
“Our goal is to bridge gaps in drilling operations that have been long underserved in the mining sector from SaaS technologies,” said CorePlan chief operating officer, Sachee Perera.
“With this expansion we also deepen our commitment to the communities and economies we serve.
“We are excited to free geology and drilling professionals from the cycle of low value tasks and assist them in developing expertise in a digital future.”
