Staff reporter

Epiroc has booked mining equipment orders worth about US$66 million in Kazakhstan and Australia.

The Swedish manufacturer said battery-electric underground vehicles were among deliveries to Eurasian Resources Group’s (ERG) 10th Anniversary (ShDNK-2) chromium mine in western Kazakhstan that would run through 2025 into 2026.

ERG’s SEK350 million (US$34 million) equipment order includes BE Minetruck MT42 SG trucks and Scooptram ST14 SG loaders, as well as development and productions drills and rock reinforcement rigs.

Epiroc said several of the machines would be operated tele-remotely and all of the equipment would be supplied with a collision avoidance system.

Meanwhile, gold major Newmont has bought a fleet of Epiroc Pit Viper 231 and SmartROC D65 drill rigs for use at the Boddington gold and copper mine in Western Australia. The rigs, to be operated tele-remotely, will replace older Epiroc equipment.

Deliveries under the SEK335 million (US$32 million) order have started and will continue into the first half of next year.
