‘I would say Australia is three-to-five years behind on battery electric uptake’

Canada’s MacLean Engineering says Australia is lagging well behind North America in mine adoption of battery electric vehicles but that hasn’t stopped it looking for a much bigger base in Perth in the belief it can accelerate the growth of its surface and underground EV sales on the back of a breakthrough deal with Fortescue Metals.

The manufacturer’s recent A$100 million-plus contract to supply EV surface graders to Fortescue from next year gave its surface mining vehicle division launch a major boost.
