Barrick Mining Corporation will use Concorde Cell flotation technology from Finland’s Metso for its Lumwana copper expansion project in Zambia.
Metso says Concorde cells will work in combination with its TankCell equipment previously selected for the project.
The manufacturer said forced-air pneumatic Concorde Cells had gained recognition for their delivery of fast flotation kinetics, high fine and ultra-fine particle recovery rates and for improving concentrate-grade consistency.
“The high-intensity Concorde Cell technology is Metso’s advanced solution for processing complex orebodies,” it said.
“Integrating Concorde Cell with TankCell technology represents a reliable and highly effective way to optimise the flowsheet.”
Metso has also won a €128 million order from Saudi Arabia’s Maaden for a gold processing plant for its new Ar Rjum mine in the kingdom’s Makkah region.
“We are honoured to be Maaden’s partner in this landmark project, which not only strengthens our long-standing collaboration but also aligns closely with Saudi Arabia’s national strategy to expand and diversify its mining industry,” Metso Minerals president Piia Karhu said.
“By delivering advanced, sustainable gold processing solutions and comprehensive services, Metso is proud to support the Kingdom’s vision for increased gold production and responsible resource development.”
Maaden awarded the EPCM contract for Ar Rjum to Bechtel last October.
An eight million tons per annum (8Mtpa) plant and openpit mine are projected to produce 3.6 million ounces of gold over Ar Rjum’s planned 12-year life.
