Osisko contracts JDS for BC gold mine

Canadian gold developer Osisko Development Corp has signed up Vancouver-based JDS Energy & Mining to manage construction of its proposed US$650 million Cariboo gold project in British Columbia.

Osisko CEO Sean Roosen said formalising a partnership with JDS supported “an integrated approach to project delivery”, though no other details were provided. “JDS’ project and construction management experience provides additional capacity and structure across planning and execution,” he said.

Osisko’s April 2025 feasibility study on Cariboo outlined a 10-year operating plan to produce about 1.89 million ounces of gold from an underground mine, including more than 200,000oz a year in the first five years. Osisko has promoted the use of an electric underground mining fleet, including a Sandvik electric roadheader, with the site fed by British Columbia hydroelectric grid power.

About 1200m of underground development was completed to access a bulk ore sample.

JDS, founded in 2004 by Jeff Stibbard, had earned a reputation for “delivering and executing project plans on budget, on schedule and most importantly, safely”, according to Osisko.
