Mining and construction equipment manufacturer Epiroc is buying the circa-US$17 million-a-year South African mining spare parts and maintenance supplier Eventspec for an undisclosed price.
Epiroc said Eventspec, which makes parts for drill rigs, mine trucks and loaders and provides related rebuild and repair services, had about 120 employees. The Johannesburg-based company was formed in 2000.
“This acquisition will be a strong and strategic addition to our manufacturing capabilities and expand our product portfolio of spare parts and related services in the growing and important African region and beyond,” Epiroc CEO Helena Hedblom said.
