Computational de-risking can ‘dramatically compress the discovery lifecycle’

Marc Fassbender, CEO and co-founder of Quminex, says the appetite of investors for exploration-tech is “growing significantly” as the Canadian start-up closed a C$1.5 million (US$1.05 million) venture capital financing to speed development and commercialisation of its Quminex Discovery Platform.

“Strategic investors recognise long development timelines, declining discovery rates and falling ore grades are the primary supply bottlenecks facing the industry,” Toronto-based Fassbender told InvestMETS.com.

“While downstream and processing technologies attract considerable capital, early-stage exploration offers the greatest point of return on investment.

“Investors increasingly see strong upside in acceleration of discovery velocity and de-risk targets early, enabling capital to be deployed more efficiently into high-probability targets prior to expensive drilling programs.”
