Australian mining contractor Barminco has bought A$53 million worth of Sandvik equipment for use at the Bellevue gold mine in Western Australia after last month picking up a $850 million, four-year contract at the site.

Barminco, part of ASX-listed Perenti, takes over from Develop at Bellevue in August.

Sandvik equipment deliveries are scheduled to start in the third quarter this year and continue through to Q1 2027. Seven diesel 63-tonne-payload underground trucks and six 17t loaders are included in the deal, plus five long-hole drills and five jumbos.

Mine owner Bellevue Gold has promoted itself as a leader in “sustainable mining” and for becoming the world’s first net-zero (scope 1 and 2) gold mine in 2025. It says four wind turbines and a solar farm account for about 90% of the operation’s electricity demand.

Sandvik says the Bellevue equipment will be automation-ready.

“Our collaboration with Sandvik continues to evolve alongside the increasing demands of modern underground mining,” Barminco vice president operations Australia, Mick Radi, said.

“This new fleet investment for Bellevue will support accelerated underground development, improved material movement and increased flexibility as additional mining areas are opened. It positions us well to deliver strong operational performance while supporting our customer’s long-term sustainable production growth.”
