The “Apple of industrial lighting” is how Andrew Orkin described Melbourne-based manufacturer, Coolon, at this week’s Digitalisation in Mining Australia conference in Perth, Western Australia. He had a little chuckle to himself. But he wasn’t really joking.

Coolon has done some cool things with industrial lighting. Its award cabinet is full. It is unleashing a wave of even cooler IoT applications at mine sites via the mesh communication networks it has been building with its light deployments.
