Telescope part of first ALTA cohort

Vancouver-based Telescope Innovations Corp says being chosen to be part of America’s first lithium technology accelerator comes “at exactly the right time” for the publicly-owned company, which says it has advanced the commercial readiness of two proprietary lithium refinement technologies.

“Our lithium processing technologies are now validated across multiple feedstocks to produce battery-grade outputs and we’re ready to move into piloting with lithium producers,” CEO Henry Dubina said this week, when Telescope was among an initial batch of firms that joined the Arkansas Lithium Technology Accelerator (ALTA) program.

“Arkansas is an ideal location to deploy these technologies given the high-quality resource and support from local communities to drive this industry forward. The engagements we are achieving through ALTA are helping make the necessary partnerships to align our innovations with industry leaders.”

Launched this month by The Venture Center in El Dorado, Arkansas, ALTA is said to connect companies such as Standard Lithium, Albemarle, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Lanxess and Tetra, with technology enterprises seen to be able to potentially address critical mineral processing and battery supply chain challenges.

Telescope says its ReCRFT is a low cost method that can produce battery-grade lithium carbonate from concentrated lithium solutions, while DualPure is a low-temperature means of producing lithium sulphide for solid state batteries.

“Both processes highlight feedstock flexibility and impurity tolerance, providing key competitive advantages within the battery material supply chain,” Canadian Securities Exchange-listed Telescope says.

“ReCRFT has proved successful with feedstocks from eight lithium production sites across North America, while DualPure has produced lithium sulphide samples currently being evaluated by battery industry groups in North America and Asia.”

Dubina said Telescope’s technologies were ready for pilot-scale deployment. ALTA provided direct access to a network that could speed technical collaboration, site-specific piloting and integration into commercial operations.
