The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) is looking to mark the 50th anniversary of what has become the world’s leading underground mining conference in style by showcasing standout operational, safety, technology and sustainability advances at Underground Operators 2027 in Western Australia.
AusIMM is looking for 2027 paper abstract submissions by August 2, 2026.
The conference is scheduled for Perth, April 5-7, 2027.
AusIMM says it will soon announce official conference themes, helping to guide and shape abstract submissions.
The 16th AusIMM Underground Operators Conference held in Adelaide, South Australia, in 2025 was the largest ever edition of the event started back in 1977 at Broken Hill, New South Wales. About 1800 attendees and 135 exhibitors from all over the world came to the Adelaide Convention Centre.
“Whether you’re sharing case studies, research, or new ideas, this is your opportunity to contribute to a landmark program marking 50 years of the conference,” AusIMM says.
“Marking 50 years of this important industry gathering, #UgOps2027 will bring together engineers, operators, technical specialists, managers and industry leaders to share practical knowledge, operational experience and ideas to help shape the future of underground mining.
“As the industry continues to navigate increasing operational complexity, evolving technologies and changing workforce expectations, the strength of the conference will come from the experience and participation of its delegates and exhibitors.”
