Australian microcap RocketDNA has signed a one-year memorandum of understanding with Sandvik mining software business Deswik to explore technology integration opportunities after a mining customer asked them to connect their respective survey data capture and mine planning products.
ASX-listed RocketDNA, which has sold drone survey services to BHP and other miners, said Deswik would develop an importer in its Deswik.CAD software to connect to RocketDNA’s API, “allowing SiteTube data from our xBot drone fleet to be brought straight into the Deswik.CAD model space”.
“For Deswik users this brings high-frequency drone survey data directly into their core planning tool,” the Australian company said.
“For RocketDNA customers it creates a clear path from autonomous data capture into the mine design and scheduling environment they already use today.”
Rather than building a one-off connection for a single site RocketDNA and Deswik agreed a framework to develop the integration at product level.
Deswik, an Australian mining software firm acquired by Sandvik in 2022, says it has more than 32,000 users of its products at over 1330 operations.
“Bringing high-frequency drone survey data directly into Deswik.CAD removes a step that surveyors and engineers have been working around for years,” Deswik survey product manager Stephen Rowles said.
“The integration with RocketDNA’s API is a practical extension of the Deswik.CAD model space.”
RocketDNA has a current market capitalisation of about A$27 million.
