Sweden’s Gruvaktiebolaget Viscaria has ordered about €40 million of Metso mineral processing equipment as it continues to advance toward a €655 million restart of the Viscaria mine in Kiruna, Sweden. It previously ordered €16 million worth of Metso SAG and ball mills.
Gruvaktiebolaget Viscaria aims to produce 120,000 tonnes per annum of copper concentrate and circa-26,000tpa of copper at Viscaria, which previously operated from 1982 to 1997.
It is targeting a 2028 production start.
Metso is supplying crushers, flotation and filtration equipment, magnetic separators, pumps, hydrocyclones and a thickener system under the new purchase order.
“Our continued cooperation with Metso marks an important step in the development of the project and in the transition towards the execution phase,” Viscaria chief operating officer Charlotte Odenberger said.
“By consolidating the delivery of all process equipment, which is the project’s largest investment, into a single contract, we can continue detailed engineering, secure the procurement of critical process equipment and increase predictability in project execution.”
