US-based Eclipse Mining Technologies has changed its name at the same time as launching a new version of its flagship enterprise software which it says has been designed to “accelerate the safe, practical adoption of AI across large-scale industries”.

Rebranded as Eclipse Data Innovations, the Tucson, Arizona-based company says “the most advanced release to date” of its SourceOne Enterprise Knowledge System (EKPS) features an integrated machine user interface powered by agentic AI.

Eclipse says the interface “turns complex analysis into simple, conversational interactions” between users and an organisation’s operational data. The software’s agentic AI “collaborates actively with users, maintains context and manages workflows” while reinforcement learning adds to its longer-range decision-optimisation capability.

“Operations of large-scale industries share a common challenge — their most valuable knowledge is trapped in isolated systems,” said Eclipse CEO Susan Wick.

“Our new name represents the wider impact we deliver and SourceOne remains the intelligence layer that brings their information together so they can move faster with greater confidence.

“Organisations cannot afford to wait on AI, nor can they afford missteps. A strong foundation is essential and this SourceOne release gives companies a clear path forward. [It is] safe, structured and built for real operational complexity.”

Eclipse was founded in 2019 by the senior managers and owners of Mintec, a 45-year-old mining software firm when it was acquired by Hexagon in 2014.

Wick, who was part of that exchange and the creation of Eclipse, said “starting sooner rather than later is rather critical” for companies integrating AI into their planning.

“We are used to buying software and we buy a point solution, which we learn how to use and we solve our specific problem with that piece of software,” she said.

“But that is not the journey you will be on when you start to apply AI.

“It is a journey and it will involve your whole team – all of your employees, your management and your executives.

“There are many benefits that you are going to accrue by starting sooner rather than later.”

Eclipse chief operating officer Karin Boan said SourceOne started as a mining solution but grew to become applicable across various industries and the company’s new identity reflected the “scale, flexibility and wider impact of the technology that we deliver today”.

“We believe that future of large-scale industries such as mining, manufacturing, construction and agriculture will be defined by how effectively organisations can act on their data,” she said.
