Auto-mate has been named among the hottest innovators in Australia’s mining, energy and resources industries for 2022.
The company, formed in 2020, is one of the CORE Innovation Hub Hot 30 innovators. Its unique mission-driven heavy mobile equipment automation solution features open architecture that allows it to integrate with existing systems and mixed fleets.
Being mission-driven means an Auto-mate controlled machine will continue to operate if communications are temporarily lost, within safety parameters, to complete its planned task.
The non-linear nature of Auto-mate’s autonomous solution allows vehicles to self-adjust planned routes on detection of an unplanned or unidentified object, unlike solutions that rely on a “virtual rail” system.
So, minimal downtime and significant productivity and cost benefits.
The retrofittable, scalable nature of Auto-mate’s technology supports the progression from Level 3 (conditional automation) to Level 5 (full automation) where operations are growing or adopting a conservative approach to fleet automation.
Auto-mate, a partnership between Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Australian logistics leader Bis Industries, was among 15 companies based in Western Australia named in this year’s CORE Hot 30 list – and one of three finalists for the WA Innovation Award.
CORE, Australia’s first innovation hub for the resources sector, has built an ecosystem of more than 1600 suppliers, researchers, entrepreneurs and resources, energy, defence and space companies.
