Manganese miner Jupiter Mines’ CEO Brad Rogers has been confirmed as North American Construction Group’s chief executive and he will take over the role from Barry Palmer in December.
Rogers, who has led ASX-listed Jupiter for four years, was also former CEO of Australian mining services company Bis Industries. The chartered accountant has been appointed to NACG’s board.
Toronto and New York-listed NACG is a leading mining and construction services contractor in Canada’s oil sands sector and is seeking to grow in Australia where it has acquired Queensland-based MacKellar Group and Western Australia’s Iron Mine Contracting.
The company’s share price is down more than 19% over the past six months, capitalising it Thursday at C$373 million.
NACG’s said its global CEO search that took place over several months involved a “rigorous assessment of several highly qualified internal and external candidates”.
“Brad is an outstanding executive with extensive experience in the global mining industry on both the owner’s side and contractor’s side, including experience in both the commercial and contractual aspects of complex infrastructure projects and with broad geographical experience in Australia, Asia, South Africa and the Americas,” NACG chair Martin Ferron said.
“Brad has demonstrated over his many years as a senior executive, including as the CEO of a major Australian private company and an Australian publicly listed company, that he has the necessary leadership and strategic skills required to develop and clearly communicate growth strategies in an asset intensive business.
“We are extremely pleased to have Brad take the helm at NACG and steer us into the most opportunity-rich period I have witnessed in my near-50-year career.”
