Small contractor lands A$12-14m deal

ASX-listed drilling contractor Dynamic Group Holdings has won a large annual drilling contract with Round Oak Minerals at its Jaguar copper-zinc mine in Western Australia.

Dynamic said its subsidiary, Orlando Drilling was initially engaged to do A$12-14 million of reverse circulation, air core and diamond drilling over 12 months at Jaguar, with scope to extend the work.

Jaguar was acquired by Washington H Soul Pattinson-owned Round Oak in mid-2018 and produced 3740 tonnes of copper, 34,377t of zinc, and 1,784,000 ounces of silver from 381,000t of ore mined and processed in 2021. New ore lenses discovered in 2019 and 2020, and higher metal prices, have encouraged Round Oak to increase exploration spend as it tries to extend Jaguar’s slated mine life beyond the current three years or so.

Dynamic said WA’s newly relaxed border entry requirements allowed it to re-engage workers based in other parts of Australia for current and upcoming projects, “helping mitigate the labour challenges currently being experienced within the industry”.
