India’s Hindustan Zinc has placed another big order for diesel underground equipment, with Epiroc following Swedish rival Sandvik’s recent announcement of a circa-US$32 million deal with its own plus-$20 million second-quarter booking.

Epiroc said its latest 65-tonne payload underground trucks, production and development drills, and bolting rigs would be delivered through Q3 this year into early 2025 to the Rampura Agucha, Sindesar Khurd, Zawar, Kayad and Rajpura Dariba mines in Rajasthan in northwestern India.

The Epiroc S series machines are equipped for remote control and automation.

“We have a long-standing and productive partnership with Hindustan Zinc, and we are happy to continue supporting the company on its journey toward operations that are as safe and productive as possible,” Epiroc CEO Helena Hedblom said.

The company’s India president, Arunkumar Govindarajan said “more than half of the machines in this order” would be delivered from Epiroc’s manufacturing facility in Nashik.
