Hexagon announces new automation business chiefs

Maria Luthstrom and Gordon Dale will be joint presidents of Swedish information technology company Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions business from the start of next month, succeeding Michael Ritter.

Hexagon combined its former autonomy and positioning (A&P), and mining, divisions and launched Autonomous Solutions in 2022.

It said last year a mine road-train automation agreement with Australia’s Mineral Resources with a potential value in the “high tens of millions [of dollars]” over five years was “the largest deal the group has ever closed”.

Luthstrom and Dale will join Hexagon’s executive management team, reporting to CEO Paolo Guglielmini.

Luthstrom joined Hexagon in 2015 and has been president of its A&P division since October 2022.

Dale has been chief operating officer of the A&P division since 2016.

He joined Hexagon 16 years ago when it acquired NovAtel.

Colorado-based Ritter, former CEO of NovAtel, was a “visionary and a driving force behind A&P and the new AS division”, Hexagon’s Guglielmini said.

“He has made a lasting impact on our company and the industry,” Guglielmini said.
