Metso expands Grupo Mexico link, adds Asia zinc plant sale

Finnish manufacturer Metso has followed up a €20 million Grupo Mexico order with a sale of cellhouse process equipment to a large, unnamed south Asia zinc smelter operator. It didn’t put a value on the second order.

“The zinc plant project is based on Metso’s calcine leaching, solution purification and cellhouse process technology,” it said.

“The delivery includes the latest high-capacity zinc cathode stripping machines, an anode washing and flattening machine, as well as the largest cooling towers supplied by Metso to date, designed to maintain optimal electrolyte temperature and support efficient electrolysis performance.”

Grupo Mexico has meanwhile bought Metso secondary crushing plant for its La Caridad copper concentrator plant in Sonora, Mexico.

“This follow-up order builds on the successful collaboration established last year,” Metso North and Central America president Giuseppe Campanelli said.

“By integrating this new package with the previous, currently in execution, MP800 crushers, we are enabling a substantial step-change in capacity and performance at La Caridad.”
