Metso says HPGR aftermarket growing

Metso’s Rodrigo Rizzoli says a US$13 million order for high-pressure grinding roll (HPGR) parts in the US highlights the growth in aftermarket business the manufacturer is seeing for a rising population of HPGR deployments.

The group’s stirred mills and HPGR services VP said Metso had received several orders for its HRC replacement tyres in the US, including five replacement tyres with studs and another order for a spare reducer for a HRC 3000.

“Our HPGR services business is experiencing significant growth, underscored by the reception of several orders,” Rizzoli said.

Metso said last month it was expanding its service centre in Arizona and establishing a training facility to improve competence development in the region to support the growing needs of mining customers. It said the investment enhanced its heavy equipment maintenance capacity for equipment including HPGRs.

“HPGR has been proven to improve energy efficiency by up to 15% and decrease recirculating loads by up to 24%,” the manufacturer says.

Meanwhile, Metso has won a US$11 million order from Mineral Arqueros for copper concentrator equipment for its project in Coquimbo, Chile. A range of crushers, a ball mill and various flotation cells will be delivered to the greenfield site.
