Sandvik has picked up a SEK170 million (US15.5 million) order for electric rotary drill rigs in Mongolia.
The Swedish equipment manufacturer said delivery of the five cable-electric DR410iE drills to Mongolyn Alt MAK’s Tsagaan Suvarga copper-molybdenum project were scheduled to start in the current quarter and run through to Q4 next year.
The proposed US$1 billion-plus, circa-14.6 million tonnes per annum openpit mine and plant at Tsagaan Suvarga in Mongolia’s South Gobi desert could produce 300,000tpa of copper and 5000tpa of molybdenum concentrates for 15-20 years.
