Experienced mining and energy executive Vanessa Guthrie has joined the board of Orica.
Guthrie was previously CEO of ASX-listed uranium developer Toro Energy and vice president sustainable development at Woodside Energy. She managed the Huntly bauxite mine in Western Australia for Alcoa Australia and chaired the Minerals Council of Australia.
Guthrie is also pro-chancellor of Curtin University in WA, where she was recognised in 2017 with an honorary science doctorate. In 2021 she was also made an officer of the Order of Australia.
The geology PhD started her career in mining started with RGC in Tasmania more than 30 years ago.
Maxine Brenner and Boon Swan Foo retired from Orica’s board after last year’s annual general meeting.
