Australian engineering services company Worley has been picked by US Strategic Metals to carry out work on its US$200 million Missouri multi-metal processing hub.

Worley said its brief included development of a cobalt refinery and black mass recycling process line.

“Under the contract Worley will provide engineering services and procurement support within an integrated project management team to oversee the construction of the project,” the company said.

Work would be led by Worley’s Louisiana team with support from personnel in Phoenix, USA, and the UK.

Worley said its Global Integrated Delivery (GID) team would also be involved.

“The cobalt refinery project supports the development of critical mineral supply chains in the US,” CEO Chris Ashton said.

“We are pleased to apply our expertise in minerals and metals to support the delivery of this important project advancing US Strategic Metals’ objectives.”

ASX-listed Worley has a current market capitalisation of about A$5.3 billion.
