New US$12m-plus order for battery-electric machines

Epiroc has sold more than US$12 million worth of battery-electric loaders and trucks to Assmang’s Black Rock underground manganese mine in South Africa’s Northern Cape Province.

The manufacturer’s announcement follows its news of another $10 million-plus order for equipment, including some battery-electric units, for the Odyssey underground gold project in Quebec, Canada.

Epiroc announces its 2022 first-quarter results next Monday.

“Epiroc is proud to support Assmang on its journey toward lower emissions through the use of our cutting-edge battery-electric machines, while also prioritising productivity and safety,” the company’s CEO, Helena Hedblom, said.

The new mine loaders and trucks, made in Orebro, Sweden, come with Epiroc’s collision avoidance and telematics systems. The latter enables automated monitoring of machine performance and activity.
