Major underground mining contractor Byrnecut has ordered circa-US$12 million of Epiroc 65-tonne-payload trucks for use at the Kathleen Valley lithium-tantalum mine, where it recently won a $650 million, four-year contract.
Swedish manufacturer Epiroc said delivery would “begin soon and will continue in 2024 and 2025”.
The new $300 million underground mine being developed by takeover target Liontown Resources is due to started production next year.
Epiroc said the MT65 S diesel trucks featured its Certiq telematics system which enabled intelligent monitoring of machine performance and productivity in real-time.
