Epiroc has acquired South African rock-drilling parts manufacturer Weco without disclosing the price.
Weco, founded in 1972, is based near Johannesburg and sells mainly to underground mine operators in southern Africa. It is said to have about 80 employees and generated revenues of circa-US$8.7 million in the 12 months to May 31 this year.
“This acquisition will strengthen our manufacturing capabilities and expand our product portfolio of spare parts in the growing and important African region,” Epiroc CEO Helena Hedblom said.
The deal is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.
