FLSmidth sells filters to US zinc project

Denmark’s FLSmidth has sold key equipment to South32 for its US$2.16 billion Hermosa zinc-lead-silver project in southern Arizona, USA, without disclosing the price.

The manufacturer said its concentrate and tailings filters that would help South32 achieve its goal of achieving lower water use in processing.

“A key requirement for South32 is to utilise the most efficient process technologies with the lowest environmental impact,” FLSmidth said.

“The project’s design is expected to result in about 75% less water consumption compared to other mines in the region and FLSmidth’s filter tailings technology will be a key enabler of this.”
