Mexico’s Fresnillo has bought about US$17 million of underground mining equipment for five of its sites from Epiroc.
The major silver producer and Mexico’s largest gold producer purchased development and production drills, rock-reinforcement units, loaders and haul trucks, featuring the manufacturer’s telematics system for “intelligent” monitoring of machines.
Epiroc said the machines would also be equipped for remote control and automated operation.
