Greenland minerals explorer Critical Metals Corp says it will spend about US$1 million on a mobile geochemical analysis facility featuring Bruker XRF technology that can give it fast, site-based information on rare earth element drill samples.
Nasdaq-listed Critical Metals, which has a current circa-$2.1 billion market value, says the modular, mobile laboratory with a Bruker M4 Tornado Plus 26S Micro XRF station is expected to “enhance exploration efficiency, grade control and operational decision-making, while reducing reliance on off-site laboratories, sample transport requirements and associated time delays, consistent with environmental, social and governance considerations”.
The on-site analytical capability could generate “full elemental rare earth element results in approximately 80 minutes, significantly reducing assay turnaround times compared to traditional off-site laboratory processing”.
Critical Metals put out a preliminary economic assessment last year on its Tanbreez REE project in southern Greenland that talked a 4.7 billion metric tonne mineralised kakortokite unit which evidently needed further drilling.
The mobile XRF investment was expected to “support faster data generation for future drilling campaigns, assist in the evaluation and potential expansion of mineral resources in accordance with applicable SEC Regulation S-K 1300 requirements, and improve the timeliness of information available to the company, potential offtake partners and shareholders”.
The facility comprised two customized 40-foot high-cube modular units configured to operate in Greenlandic conditions.
The first module would provide automated, high-throughput sample preparation, including crushing, representative sub-sampling, pulverising and drying. Module B would house the climate-controlled state of the art X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analytical and data processing tools.
