Metso has confirmed additional equipment orders for South32’s US$2.16 billion Hermosa zinc-lead-silver project in southern Arizona, USA, having said in July last year it would supply primary autogenous grinding (AG) and secondary grinding mills to the new mine.
Australian-based South32 is developing the 100%-owned Taylor sulphide deposit at Hermosa for targeted first production in the second half of FY2027. It is also studying development of the adjacent oxide Clark manganese-silver deposit with the aim of filling a gap in US domestic manganese supply.
Finland’s Metso said this week it had been awarded “additional orders for the delivery of crushing, grinding, automation, and pump plant equipment” by South32.
