NRW buys OFI for A$4m

Major contract miner NRW Holdings will integrate Western Australia electric engineering and automation firm, OFI Group Holdings, into its technology and services division after paying A$4 million for the 34-year-old Bunbury company.

OFI generates circa-$40 million annual turnover and works in the mining, government, defence and other markets.

NRW, one of Australia’s largest surface mining contractors, said OFI would be added to its NRW METS business, which includes RCR Mining Technologies, DIAB Engineering and Primero Group.

RCR, another company originally formed in Bunbury, south of Perth, has worked with OFI in the past.

Meanwhile, DIAB Engineering has picked up a c$30m mine infrastructure maintenance contract at Fortescue Metals Group’s Iron Bridge iron ore operation in north-west WA. The three-year contract is due to start in May.

FMG has also engaged RCR Mining Technologies to design and build a primary crusher at its Christmas Creek Hall Hub development project in WA’s Pilbara region. The $34m contract follows RCR’s delivery of FMG’s Hopper 10 crusher at its Cloudbreak iron ore mine last year.
