Major mining contractor Thiess has clinched a second Indonesia nickel contract this year.
The new A$240 million (US$155m), 3.5-year contract with PT Halmahera Sukses Mineral follows Thiess’s A$125m Weda Bay Nickel deal announced in March.
Thiess has heavy coal-sector exposure in Indonesia and Australia.
“This contract win aligns with Thiess’ strategy to diversify our commodities portfolio,” group executive Asia, Cluny Randell, said.
