Michigan metal recycling and distribution company Schupan and Sons has agreed to expand its use of MineHub Technologies’ Jules digital trading platform in the US.

The family-owned enterprise has been using the platform to manage aluminium container shipments for international partners and will now connect its domestic commodity and trade management operations via the new agreement.

Canadian-listed MineHub Technologies bought Jules AI from Toronto incubator Nyteco last year, citing the start-up’s exposure to a global scrap material market estimated to be worth US$1 trillion.

“Having seen the platform’s success in their international business, Schupan is now leveraging Jules to accelerate their domestic operations, proving our ability to improve visibility and execution across transactions for a broader range of stakeholders,” MineHub CEO Andrea Aranguren said.

She said while Jules had previously focused on international commodity markets, the Schupan and Sons move increased its domestic penetration in line with ongoing relocation of metal supply chains in North America.

MineHub last week announced a new global enterprise agreement with Japan’s Sumitomo Metal Mining Co on the use of MineHub’s digital trade management platform. Aranguren said the deal highlighted “the increasing importance of real-time visibility in the movement of critical raw materials and reflects the strong momentum we are seeing across Asia, particularly in Japan”.

“As mining companies and manufacturers continue to prioritise supply chain transparency, MineHub is well positioned to serve as the digital backbone for these critical workflows,” she said.

She said Japan remained one of the world’s largest importers and processors of non-ferrous metals and the country’s leading enterprises were increasingly adopting digital platforms to enhance supply chain resilience and transparency.
